Total Number of Spanish Property Sales Increased By 8.6% In 2015

A new report out by the General Council of Notaries has shown that the total number of properties in Spain sold in 2015 increased by 8.6% when compared with the previous year. In total, just over 400,000 property transactions were carried out in 2015, adding further credence to the concencus that the Spanish property market is gradually recovering from the previous economic downturn. The report went on to show that the average cost per square metre of a Spanish property also increased by almost 2% year on year, and now sits at €1,277 per square metre.
When looking specifically at the sales of apartments in Spain, it was shown that the price of second hand apartments had increased by 2.4% and now stood at €1,381 per square metre, whilst the average cost of a new build apartment in Spain was €1,741 per square metre, an annual increase of over 7%. The total number new mortgage loans in Spain increased by 11.6% when viewed with the previous year, with the mortgage value coming in at €154,906, a increase of 12.2% on the previous year.
